Sous Chef – The Velo Project | Mooloolaba

The Velo Project is a busy, community-focused café in the heart of Mooloolaba, known for exceptional coffee, fresh food, and friendly service. We're looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.

About the Role

As Sous Chef, you'll work closely with the Head Chef to deliver consistently high-quality food while helping lead a positive, efficient kitchen. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced café environment and takes pride in producing outstanding food.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Prepare and present fresh, high-quality meals to a consistently high standard
• Supervise and support kitchen staff during service
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and WHS standards
• Assist with stock ordering, stock rotation and inventory control
• Help develop seasonal specials and menu ideas
• Ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods
• Foster a positive, professional team culture

About You

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Chef ready to step up
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• A genuine passion for fresh, quality food
• Knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
• Availability to work weekends and public holidays as required
