Production Supervisor – Food Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a Production Supervisor to run the day-to-day operation of the plant floor: delivering the daily production plan safely, on time and to specification, while keeping your team engaged, capable and developing. You will report to the Production Manager and supervise a team of production employees, including labour hire staff. It is a hands-on role for someone who likes being on the floor, setting the standard by example, and fixing the root cause rather than working around it.

Key responsibilities

• Running the daily production schedule for your shift — labour, materials and equipment

• Coordinating batch manufacture, changeovers, shift handover, cleaning duties and breaks

• Supervising, coaching and developing your team, and being their first point of call

• Holding the line on food safety and quality standards, including customer requirements

• Delivering toolbox talks and keeping safety visible and front of mind every shift

• Running daily team meetings and reporting on Achievement to Plan

• Applying Lean routines — 5S, short interval control and structured problem solving

• Escalating constraints early and following improvement actions through to closure

About you

• Experience supervising a production team in food manufacturing or a similar regulated environment

• Sound working knowledge of food safety systems including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)

• A practical understanding of Lean manufacturing tools and a real continuous improvement mindset

• The communication skills to coach and motivate a team — and to hold it to standard

• Confidence using production data to make decisions and solve problems

• The resilience to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced plant

• Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, frontline management or equivalent (nice to have)

• Formal Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement training (nice to have)

• Root cause analysis training (5 Why, Fishbone) (nice to have)

• Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or production planning system (nice to have)
