The Department of Corrections (DOC) plays an important role in keeping our communities safe by helping break the cycle of crime, reduce reoffending and improve the lives of offenders through education, training and employment opportunities.
Under the newly developed Rehabilitation and Reintegration (R&R) Framework the Clinical Rehabilitation team requires a manager to lead our Clinical Rehabilitation team and support the team of psychologists, social workers and Aboriginal Program Facilitators to deliver offence related intensive treatment programs. This role plays a critical part in reducing re-offending and improving community safety through supporting the delivery of evidence-based rehabilitation programs within a custodial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise and support a team delivering offence-specific rehabilitation programs
Oversee clinical assessments using psychometric tools and ensure high-quality reporting
Ensure compliance with professional standards, legislative frameworks, and best practice guidelines
Liaise with prison management, courts, and external stakeholders on risk, treatment, and offender management
Contribute to program development, evaluation and continuous improvement
Manage documentation, reporting, and relevant data collection
Support staff development, performance management and team cohesion
About You
Essential
Tertiary qualifications in Psychology (AHPRA registered psychologist) or Social Work (AASW membership)
Experience delivering forensic assessments and interventions
Proven leadership experience within a multidisciplinary team in a secure or forensic environment
Strong knowledge of evidence-based offender programs and behaviour change interventions
Experience in staff supervision, performance management, and budget oversight
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated cultural capability, particularly working with Aboriginal communities
High ethical standards and ability to manage sensitive/confidential information
Desirable
Postgraduate qualifications in Forensic or Clinical Psychology or relevant endorsements
AASW accreditation (Supervisor / Clinical / Family Violence)
Formal qualifications or training in Leadership or Management
