What we need 

On the back of a strong local government and private developer client base, and an ambitious growth strategy that will see the business significantly scale over the next four years, OCE is now seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to build and lead our forward works pipeline. Based out of our Gympie or North Lakes office, this role will be central to growing our presence with local and State government, private developers, mining resource sector and Tier 1 contractors, and to supporting our expansion into new regional markets beyond our current Wide Bay/Southeast Queensland footprint.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of identifying, pursuing, and securing new work across our core service lines, underground infrastructure, earthworks, roads and pavements, landfill construction, and reinforced concrete structures; working closely with our estimating and delivery teams to convert opportunities into a sustainable pipeline.

The successful candidate must possess the following skills:

• Proven experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management within civil construction, infrastructure, or a related industry.

• A solid understanding of tender processes, including open and closed tenders, local government vendor panels, and contractor prequalification schemes.

• Established relationships with, or credibility to build relationships with, local government, private developers, Tier 1 contractors and mining resource clients.

• Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to work closely with estimating teams on pricing and scope.

• Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.

• Own transport and a willingness to travel across our service region, including client and site visits.

We are looking for candidates with any of the following skills:

• Experience in underground infrastructure, earthworks, roads, landfill, or civil construction more broadly.

• An existing network across Queensland local/state government, developer, mining resource or Tier 1 contractor markets.

• Experience supporting a contracting business's expansion into new geographic regions.

• CRM or pipeline management experience.

• A tertiary qualification in business, engineering, or a related field.
