TC2 / TMI 2 Workers and Supervisors

About the role

Northern Territory Traffic Control is seeking experienced TC2 / TMI 2 Workers and Supervisors to join our team on a casual basis. This is an essential role within the construction and traffic management industry, based in Darwin, NT 0800. As a TC2 / TMI 2 Worker or Supervisor, you will play a critical part in ensuring the safe and efficient management of traffic flow on construction sites and road works throughout the Northern Territory. Whether working as an individual contributor or in a supervisory capacity, you will be responsible for implementing traffic control measures that protect both the public and construction personnel, whilst maintaining compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implementing and managing traffic control plans on construction sites and road work areas in accordance with Australian Standards and local regulations

• Directing and guiding traffic safely around work zones using approved hand signals, traffic control devices and communication equipment

• Setting up, monitoring and maintaining traffic control equipment including signs, cones, barriers and temporary traffic lights

• Conducting site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure traffic control measures are effective and compliant

• Communicating with site supervisors, construction teams and other stakeholders to coordinate traffic management activities

• Responding promptly to changing site conditions and adjusting traffic control measures as necessary

• Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to traffic control activities

• For Supervisors: Overseeing teams of traffic control workers, providing guidance, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and coordinating daily operations

• For Supervisors: Training and mentoring junior staff in traffic control procedures and safety best practices

What we're looking for

• Valid NT TC2 / TMI 2 certification

• Demonstrated experience working in traffic control, construction or similar safety-critical environments

• Thorough knowledge of Australian Standards for traffic control and the AGTTM

• Strong understanding of work health and safety (WHS) requirements and a genuine commitment to safety culture

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams

• Physical fitness and the ability to perform duties in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions

• Reliable and punctual with the ability to work flexibly on a casual basis. Fulltime roles offered after 3 months.

• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within the Northern Territory as required

• For Supervisors: Leadership experience (or willingness to learn) and the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
