We’re looking for multiple Mental Health Support Workers to join the team establishing our new Ipswich Clubhouse. 

In this role you’ll work side by side with Members experiencing mental ill-health, creating opportunities for meaningful participation, connection, confidence, employment, education and community involvement. 

This is a hands-on, varied role for people who believe in the strengths and potential of others and enjoy working collaboratively in a vibrant community environment. You’ll help shape the culture and day-to-day life of a new Clubhouse while supporting Members to pursue goals that matter to them.

About the Opportunity 

We are recruiting multiple Mental Health Support Workers to become part of the foundation team for our newest Clubhouse in Ipswich. 

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you’ll work alongside Members throughout the work-ordered day, supporting them to contribute their skills, build confidence and connection, develop routines and pursue personal goals. 

Rather than working in a traditional support-worker model, you’ll participate with Members in the everyday operation of the Clubhouse. One day you might be working alongside Members on Clubhouse projects or administration, and another you might be supporting someone to explore employment or education, undertaking outreach, helping facilitate a social activity or connecting with community organisations. 

As Ipswich is a new Clubhouse, you’ll also have the opportunity to help build its culture, activities, community connections and Member base from the ground up. 

Employment Conditions 

• Multiple full-time positions available 

• Classified as Social and Community Services Employee Level 3 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 

• Salary in accordance with the Award 

• The roles will initially be based at our Coorparoo Clubhouse, with relocation to Ipswich once a suitable premises is secured 

• The roles require flexibility to participate in occasional evening, weekend and public holiday activities 

• Local travel may also be required to support Clubhouse activities, community connections and Transitional Employment placements 

What you'll be doing 

• Work side by side with Members throughout the work-ordered day, creating meaningful opportunities for participation, contribution, connection and skill development. 

• Support Members to identify goals, build confidence, strengthen routines and participate actively in Clubhouse and community life. 

• Help Members access opportunities relating to employment, education, training, housing, advocacy, health, social connection and community participation. 

• Contribute as a flexible generalist across Clubhouse programs, including employment and education, individual support, housing, Healthy Active Lifestyle and social and recreational activities. 

• Support Members participating in Transitional Employment placements, including training and absence coverage where required. 

• Participate in outreach to maintain connection with Members and encourage continued engagement with the Clubhouse community. 

• Help plan and facilitate social recreation activities, including occasional evening, weekend and public holiday activities. 

• Build positive relationships with Members, colleagues, community organisations and other stakeholders. 

• Complete required administration, data entry, Member records and reporting accurately and on time. 

• Identify and appropriately escalate risks, incidents, safeguarding concerns or changes in Member wellbeing. 

• Contribute to creating a welcoming, inclusive, purposeful and vibrant new Ipswich Clubhouse.

• Deliver individualised, recovery-oriented supports aligned with Members' NDIS plans and goals, including maintaining accurate and timely progress notes, service records, and other required documentation.

About You 

You’re someone who genuinely enjoys working alongside people and believes that everyone has strengths, capabilities and something valuable to contribute. 

You don’t need to have all the answers. What matters is that you’re curious, respectful, adaptable and comfortable building relationships with people whose experiences may be very different from your own. 

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re practical and willing to get involved. The Clubhouse Model is highly collaborative, so you’ll be equally comfortable supporting a Member with an individual goal, working together on a Clubhouse task, helping run an activity, undertaking outreach or pitching in wherever the day requires. 

You’ll bring strong communication and relationship-building skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. 

Experience or study in mental health, community services, human services, social work, psychology, peer work, disability or a related field will be well regarded, as will experience in community mental health, psychosocial disability, NDIS or recovery-oriented environments. 

Most importantly, you’ll bring a genuine commitment to dignity, inclusion, recovery-oriented practice and working with Members as colleagues in the Clubhouse community.

Essential Requirements 

• Current Queensland open C-Class Driver Licence. 

• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or ability to obtain prior to commencement. 

• Ability to travel locally as required to support Clubhouse activities and Transitional Employment placements. 

• Ability to participate in occasional evening, weekend and public holiday activities.
