Solar Labourer

About the role

Eco Sparks Solar & Electrical Contractors Pty Ltd is seeking a reliable and physically capable Solar Installation Labourer to join our solar installation team. The successful applicant will provide practical labouring and installation support for residential and/or commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. Working under the direction of supervisors and appropriately qualified tradespeople, the Solar Installation Labourer will assist with preparing worksites, handling and positioning solar equipment and materials, supporting installation activities, maintaining work areas and completing general labouring tasks associated with solar PV projects. The role involves working as part of a team in an active construction and renewable-energy environment and requires a strong commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship and following instructions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist solar installation teams with the preparation and organisation of work areas before installation activities commence

• Assist with the delivery, unloading, movement and safe storage of solar panels, mounting components, tools, equipment and other materials

• Carry, position and handle solar panels and associated components in accordance with safe manual-handling procedures

• Assist with positioning solar panels and mounting components as directed by the installation team

• Assist with preparing roof areas and other installation locations for solar PV works

• Prepare, maintain and clean work areas before, during and after solar installation activities

• Work cooperatively with solar installers, electricians, supervisors and other tradespeople

• Follow instructions and established work procedures provided by supervisors and qualified tradespeople

• Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, policies and procedures

• Report hazards, incidents, damaged equipment and unsafe work practices promptly to the appropriate supervisor

About you

• Previous experience in labouring, construction, solar installation support or a similar physically active occupation

• The physical capacity to undertake manual handling and labour-intensive work

• Ability to safely lift, carry and position solar panels, tools, equipment and other materials

• Ability to follow instructions and established work procedures

• Ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a team

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

• Reliability, punctuality and a positive work ethic

• White Card (REQUIRED)

• Working at Heights (REQUIRED)
