Tauondi Aboriginal College is seeking an Aboriginal Community Educator – Correctional Pathways to support the delivery of culturally responsive learning and pathway programs for Aboriginal people engaged with correctional services, prisons and pre-release environments.
Tauondi Aboriginal College is an independent, Aboriginal community-controlled Registered Training Organisation established in 1973. For more than 50 years, Tauondi has supported Aboriginal people through education, training, learner support, employment pathways and community-based programs. Our approach places Aboriginal culture, identity and community at the centre of learning and support.
The position will primarily support the Living Skills and Pathway Program, delivering structured, non-accredited learning activities designed to strengthen practical life skills, confidence, communication, self-management and readiness for future education, training, employment and community transition.
Working with Aboriginal participants in correctional and pre-release environments, you will facilitate culturally safe and engaging learning activities that support participants to build confidence, identify personal goals and explore realistic pathways after release.
The role combines community education, facilitation, mentoring, pathway support and program coordination. You will work closely with the Department for Correctional Services, the Aboriginal Services Directorate, Tauondi teams and other community, education, training and employment stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who can communicate and engage effectively with Aboriginal participants and create culturally safe learning environments that encourage participation, confidence and positive change.
You will ideally bring experience in:
Strong interpersonal skills, sound organisation and administration skills, flexibility, initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively will be important in this role.
Applicants must hold, or be prepared to obtain where applicable:
Experience or qualifications in adult education, foundation skills or non-accredited training delivery will be highly regarded.
