OzHarvest is a leading food rescue organisation on a mission to ‘Nourish our Country’ by stopping good food from going to waste and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need. Through our education programs and our advocacy work, we hope to inspire others to change behaviour and help reach the national target of halving food waste by 2030.

About the role:

We are on the look-out for confident and friendly drivers that are passionate about the community, sustainability and driving. As a food rescue driver, you will spend the workday in our bright yellow van, collecting and redistributing good quality surplus food and delivering it to the various charities we serve around Perth, with a smile and compassion.

This is a casual role, with an average of two to three shifts per week. To support our current roster, availability on Fridays is essential. Most shifts are based at our Perth hub, however, if you’re able to occasionally work from our Mandurah hub as well, we’d love to hear from you. While this flexibility would be viewed favourably, it’s certainly not a requirement – we warmly welcome applications from all suitable candidates.

Our vans and trucks require a car licence only (no truck licence needed). Our onboarding process includes training on our safety systems, food rescue processes, and includes buddy shifts to get you ready for solo shifts. Our logistics team provides ongoing support in real time to help navigate each day’s food rescue run.

The successful candidate will:

• Be able to safely navigate around Perth and must hold a valid Australian Drivers Licence (auto car licence is fine).
• Be excited to foster relationships with people at your pick-up and drop-off locations, and educate and inspire behaviour change by talking about our work.
• Be physically fit and be able to load and unload vibrant, nutritious food boxes (up to 15kg per box).
• Bring an energetic, proactive & friendly vibe to the team.
• MR licence – desirable.
