Full-Stack Developer

Bench Media is looking for a mid-level Full-Stack Developer to join our small development team and help build and maintain the technology behind Bench Connect, our proprietary media technology platform.
This is a hands-on role for a developer who wants to learn quickly, take greater ownership and contribute across different parts of a growing platform. You’ll work closely with an experienced development team, with the opportunity to influence technical decisions and see the direct impact of your work.
The roleBench Connect brings together media campaign data from a wide range of platforms and technology partners. You’ll work with APIs and data from companies such as Google, Meta and The Trade Desk, helping us integrate, process and manage information used by our teams and clients.The role has a strong backend, data and infrastructure focus. Your work will span API integrations, microservices, databases, cloud infrastructure and deployment, with opportunities to contribute to the broader architecture and development of the platform.
What you’ll be doingBuilding, maintaining and improving integrations with external APIsWorking with APIs from major advertising and technology platformsDeveloping and supporting microservices and the ways they communicateWorking extensively with databases, including schema design and modificationHelping maintain the reliability and performance of our platformMaintaining and improving cloud infrastructure and deployment processesContributing to software architecture and technical design decisionsSupporting existing data pipelines and ETL or ELT processesTroubleshooting issues across applications, integrations, data and infrastructureWorking collaboratively within a small team to deliver practical solutions
What we’re looking forIdeally mid level 3 to 8 years’ experience in software developmentExperience building or integrating APIs using technologies such as REST, JSON-RPC and OAuth 2.0A sound understanding of microservices, including how they operate and communicateExperience contributing to software architecture and system designStrong SQL skills and practical experience with a relational database such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or OracleExperience working with cloud infrastructure and application deploymentsFamiliarity with CI/CD practices, containers and infrastructure as codeThe ability to investigate problems, work independently and communicate clearlyA curious and practical mindset, with a willingness to learn and contribute beyond a narrowly defined area
Our technologyOur primary development language is Go, so commercial Go experience would be highly regarded. Experience with MongoDB, Scala, Spark, Airflow or data pipelines would be valuable, but you don’t need to know every part of the technology stack on day one.

We offer a hybrid workplace, with at least two days working from home each week. When you’re in the office, you’ll be based in a convenient location with harbour views and Metro, train and bus services within a two-minute walk. Please note we will consider fully remote for the right candidate located outside of Sydney.
