Accounts Payable Officer (15-Month Fixed Term Contract)

About the role

Bermad Water Technologies is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join our Finance team on a 15-month fixed term contract basis. This is a critical position that will support the efficient processing and management of our supplier payments and accounts payable function. Based in Thomastown VIC 3074, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organisation whilst developing your expertise in accounts payable operations. This is a contract position, providing stability and defined parameters for your engagement with our team.

Key responsibilities

• Processing and coding supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures

• Performing three-way matching of purchase orders, goods received notes, and invoices to verify accuracy before payment

• Managing the accounts payable ledger, including reconciliation and variance analysis

• Processing supplier payments via various methods and ensuring all payment deadlines are met

• Maintaining accurate and complete supplier records and documentation

• Responding to supplier enquiries regarding payments, invoices and account status

• Assisting with month-end and year-end close procedures related to accounts payable

• Preparing accounts payable reports for management review and analysis

• Identifying and resolving discrepancies and disputed invoices with suppliers and internal stakeholders

• Supporting the implementation and maintenance of accounts payable policies and procedures

• Perform daily bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded, matched, and any discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.

• Manage the Corporate credit card platform (Weel), including card top-ups, expense administration, invoice processing and journal entries.

• Administer company purchasing accounts, including Uber, Officeworks and other corporate supplier accounts.

• Maintain accurate supplier records and support audit and compliance requirements.

• Assist with other accounting requests as required.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in an accounts payable role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment

• Strong proficiency with accounting software systems and ERP platforms - Oracle preferred

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and invoice processing

• Solid understanding of accounts payable best practices, including three-way matching and payment processing

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office applications

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

• High level of integrity and confidentiality with financial information

• Certificate III or higher qualification in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent practical experience)

• Desirable: Experience with payment reconciliation, supplier management, and cost control initiatives
