Trainee Patent Attorney - Attorney, Chemistry

About the role

DCC is now recruiting for a trainee patent attorney, or a registered/part-registered Patent Attorney with experience in the field of chemistry to join our Sydney office.

Your day-to-day work will involve all aspects of private patent attorney practice, including liaising with inventors and clients; drafting and prosecuting patent applications; conducting searches; providing patentability, infringement and validity opinions, and providing strategic portfolio advice.

About You

• A PhD in a chemistry-related discipline is required.
• Preferred field of expertise – organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry or chemical biology.
• Postdoctoral and/or industry experience would be valued.
• An excellent communicator with a strong command of written and verbal English.
• Demonstrated commitment to and interest in local business development.
• Able to understand and critically analyse information and think laterally.
• Well organised and self-motivated.
• Committed to providing clients with quality advice and service.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
