Clinical Practice Lead - Children, Youth & Families

The young people in our residential disability homes have complex needs, big lives ahead of them, and the right to care that genuinely keeps them safe. That's what this role is built around.

As Clinical Practice Lead for A Good Start to Life (GSL), you'll provide expert clinical leadership across residential homes supporting children and young people with complex disability-related health needs. It's a role that sits at the intersection of nursing, disability and child protection — requiring someone who can lead with clinical confidence, work across systems, and bring the whole team with them.

What you'll be doing

• Providing expert nursing advice to GSL staff and the CYF leadership team on the health, medical and therapeutic needs of young people in residential disability care
• Conducting and overseeing clinical assessments, health support planning and care plan development for young people with complex needs
• Leading clinical management of disability-related conditions including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, ASD, acquired brain injury, dysphagia, enteral feeding and complex continence needs
• Leading end-of-life and palliative care planning in collaboration with families, guardians and treating teams
• Driving continuous improvement through audit, practice review, compliance and incident trend analysis
• Embedding trauma-informed, culturally safe practice across all GSL houses consistent with the Sanctuary Model
• Supporting GSL staff to understand and fulfil mandatory reporting obligations at the intersection of child protection and disability
• Leading targeted clinical training, developing competency frameworks and mentoring staff to build confidence in complex residential settings

You're the right person if...

• You hold a tertiary degree in Nursing, Clinical Governance or related discipline
• You hold current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with 3–5 years post-registration experience
• You have advanced clinical knowledge across disability-related conditions
• You have experience in end-of-life and palliative care planning within disability or residential care settings
• You have demonstrated experience in medication governance, High Intensity Support coordination and NDIS Practice Standards
• You understand Queensland's child protection legislative framework — or have a clear capacity to get across it quickly
• You have experience providing clinical supervision and workforce capability development to non-clinical staff
• You communicate clearly across non-clinical staff, families, guardians, medical practitioners and statutory agencies
