Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations Assistant to support the delivery of the Melbourne Cup Carnival 2026.
This is an exciting fixed-term opportunity to work at the heart of one of Australia's most iconic sporting and cultural events, providing vital administrative and operational support to the Event Operations team during the planning, build and delivery phases of the Carnival.

About the OpportunityReporting to the Head of Event Operations, you'll play a key role supporting the Operations, Infrastructure and Hospitality teams throughout the Melbourne Cup Carnival build and event delivery period.
This varied role combines administration, coordination and on-site event support, ensuring teams have the information, resources and assistance needed to deliver a world-class event experience.From managing processes and documentation to providing event-day support and assisting at operational help desks, you'll be a trusted team member contributing to the successful delivery of the Carnival.
What you'll be responsible forOperations & Administrative SupportProvide day-to-day administrative support across Operations, Infrastructure and Hospitality teamsMaintain organised systems, documentation and operational recordsCoordinate actions, track deliverables and support the implementation of key operational processesAssist with stakeholder communications and team coordinationMelbourne Cup Carnival Build & DeliverySupport the planning and delivery of Melbourne Cup Carnival operationsAssist teams during site build activities and venue readiness programsProvide on-site operational support throughout event deliveryHelp ensure operational activities are delivered efficiently and effectivelyEvent Day SupportAssist with operational coordination during race days and major event periodsSupport event-day help desk operations and stakeholder enquiriesWork collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve issues quicklyContribute to a seamless experience for members, customers and event stakeholdersTeam & Stakeholder CollaborationBuild strong working relationships across VRC teamsPartner with contractors, suppliers and service providers as requiredContribute to a collaborative, solutions-focused team environmentSupport continuous improvement initiatives across operations
What your background includesPrevious experience in administration, event operations, venue operations or project coordinationStrong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and administrative systemsA proactive approach to problem solving and getting things doneExperience supporting events, major projects or large-scale operations is highly regarded
