Warehouse Operator / Trainee Machine Operator – Stainless Steel

Full-time — Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm — Pay based on experience

Most warehouse jobs are pick and pack. This one isn’t.

You’ll handle industrial stainless steel — operating forklifts, overhead cranes and CNC bandsaws. We’ll train you to do it properly, and there’s a clear path to grow from there.

About the role

This is a hands-on warehouse position in our stainless steel distribution operation. You’ll be involved in the day-to-day handling, preparation and despatch of steel bar — working with real industrial equipment in a specialised environment. The work requires care, accuracy and a genuine focus on safety.

Your duties will include:

• Receiving, checking and inspecting incoming stainless steel materials
• Picking and preparing customer orders to spec
• Packing, labelling and preparing materials for despatch
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Operating forklifts, overhead cranes and warehouse equipment
• Assisting with stock control and inventory checks
• Keeping the warehouse clean, organised and safe
• Learning to operate saws and other specialised equipment as your skills develop

How you’ll progress

This isn't a dead-end role. There's a clear skills ladder, and progression comes as your skills and confidence grow:

General warehouse → Overhead crane → Forklift operation → Saw operation

Full training is provided at every stage. You don’t need to arrive knowing everything — you need to arrive willing to learn.

About you

You’ll be a good fit if you:

• Show up on time and take your work seriously
• Are careful and accurate with measurements, labels and paperwork
• Follow safety procedures and don’t cut corners
• Are comfortable in a hands-on warehouse or industrial environment
• Want to grow your skills over time and take on more responsibility
• Work well as part of a small, close-knit team

A forklift licence is a bonus, but not required. Previous experience in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, steel, timber, machinery or trades is an advantage — but we’re genuinely open to training the right person from scratch.
