Qualified Mech Plumber or Refrigeration Mechanic

About the role

BM Heating and Cooling is seeking a Qualified Mechanic or Refrigeration Mechanic to join our growing team in Reservoir, VIC. This is a full-time position based at our Reservoir location. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration systems for both residential and commercial clients. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for quality service and ensuring customer satisfaction across the Greater Melbourne area.

Key responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems in residential and commercial properties

• Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions

• Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing to ensure optimal system performance

• Test and charge refrigeration systems in compliance with current regulations and safety standards

• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and system schematics

• Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work completed

• Respond promptly to emergency service calls and provide reliable after-hours support when required

• Communicate professionally with clients and provide clear explanations of work undertaken

• Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian standards and safety regulations

• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and safely

What we're looking for

• Recognised qualification as a Refrigeration Mechanic or equivalent Plumbing mechanical trade qualification

• Current valid driver's license and reliable transport to travel between client sites

• Proven experience in air conditioning and refrigeration installation, maintenance, and repair

• Strong knowledge of refrigerant handling, evacuation, and charging procedures

• Familiarity with various air conditioning and refrigeration system types and manufacturers

• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions with minimal supervision

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication and customer service abilities

• Commitment to health and safety practices and willingness to follow all workplace procedures

• Flexibility to respond to service calls and occasional emergency situations

• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Experience with commercial refrigeration systems is highly desirable

• Experience in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry of 2+ years is preferred
