About the Project

TMJ Construction & Building Services specialises in the installation of transportable buildings and infrastructure for remote locations. We have been awarded a contract to build NPI facilities for Rio Tinto’s Hope Downs 2 Project in WA and are looking for motivated personnel to join the project team.

We are seeking experienced Carpenters, Operators and Labourers for FIFO work on the Rio Tinto Hope Downs 2 project, commencing in October 2026. Concreting experience is preferred.

Project scope: Installation of transportable buildings, infrastructure and facilities, including verandas and associated structures.

Duration: Approximately 6 months

FIFO roster: 2:1 roster, with charter flights provided from Perth and Brisbane direct to site. Work days are 12 hours.

Start date: October 2026

Rates:

-       Labourers: $50 per hour flat rate, plus super

-       Carpenters: $65 per hour flat rate, plus super

-       Operators: $65 per hour flat rate, plus super

Company policy: Random drug and alcohol testing applies.

The Applicant

All applicants must have:

·       Previous relevant experience

·       Current driver’s licence

·       Blue/White Card

·       Ability to complete a medical and drug and alcohol test if hired

·       Availability to commence in September for mobilisation tasks

·       Cert 3 in Carpentry or recognised equivalent for Carpenters

Carpenter Position

Duties will include:

·      transportable building installation works, including setting out footings, working around cranes and forklifts, aligning transportable buildings on footing blocks, constructing various steel structures,

·      second-fix works to multi-floor transportable complexes,

·      concrete formwork, assisting with concrete pours and general maintenance.

Carpenters with all-rounder experience are preferred. Applicants must be able to work within a team or unsupervised. Applicants with previous FIFO experience, relevant tickets and who are based in Perth or Brisbane are preferred.

Tickets required but not essential: Forklift, WAH, Scaffolding

Operator Position

Duties will include:

·      operating excavators and bobcats/skid steers for civil and building installation works, including final trim, footing excavation, site preparation, trenching, backfilling, levelling pads,

·      loading and moving materials, and assisting with general construction activities as required.

·      Operators will be required to work safely around buildings, structures, trades and labourers, follow site drawings and instructions, maintain clean work areas, complete daily pre-start checks, and assist with other site duties when machinery is not operating.

Applicants must be able to work within a team or unsupervised. Applicants with previous FIFO experience, relevant tickets and who are based in Perth or Brisbane are preferred.

Tickets required but not essential: Excavator, Bobcat/Skid Steer, White/Blue Card, HR licence, Forklift, WAH

Labourer Position

Duties will include:

·      assisting with transportable building installation works, including setting out footings, working around cranes and forklifts, aligning transportable buildings on footing blocks, constructing various steel structures.

·      Second-fix works to multi-floor transportable complexes,

·      concrete formwork, assisting with concrete pours, spotting and general maintenance.

Applicants must be able to work within a team or unsupervised. Applicants with previous FIFO experience, relevant tickets and who are based in Perth are preferred.

Tickets required but not essential: Forklift, WAH, Scaffolding
