The Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract where you'll play a key role in shaping the future of Pepper's customer-facing digital platforms. As our Technical Lead – Digital, you'll provide technical leadership across our mobile applications and web customer portal, guiding engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable and high-performing solutions. Working closely with product, architecture and delivery teams, you'll help set technical direction, uplift engineering capability and drive continuous improvement across our digital ecosystem.

• Proven experience as a Technical Lead delivering large-scale customer-facing mobile and web applications. 

• Extensive experience developing and leading solutions using React Native, Expo, TypeScript, React and modern JavaScript frameworks. 

• Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, native platform capabilities (iOS and Android), app store release processes and mobile security best practices. 

• Demonstrated experience integrating mobile and web applications with enterprise APIs using Azure API Management (APIM) and cloud-native integration platforms. 

• Experience working with Azure Integration Services, including API Management, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Function Apps and event-driven integration patterns. 

• Experience implementing authentication and identity solutions using MSAL, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Azure AD B2C or Microsoft Entra External ID. 

• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevSecOps, automated testing, monitoring and cloud-native operational practices. 

• Experience leading distributed teams and working effectively across product, architecture, security, delivery and vendor partners.

You're a technically hands-on leader who thrives on solving complex business and technology challenges while enabling high-performing teams to deliver exceptional outcomes. You bring deep experience delivering customer-facing digital platforms across mobile, web and API ecosystems, with the ability to balance strategic technology direction, architecture governance and day-to-day delivery leadership. Most importantly, you're passionate about engineering excellence, building capability in others, and creating secure, scalable and customer-centric solutions.

• Significant experience leading the design and delivery of customer-facing digital products, including mobile applications, web portals and API-driven platforms.
• Strong hands-on expertise in React Native, Expo, React, JavaScript and TypeScript, with a deep understanding of modern frontend and mobile architecture patterns.
• Proven experience designing scalable and maintainable solutions across mobile, web, cloud and integration platforms.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade API solutions using Azure API Management (APIM) and integrating with backend services through modern API and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of Azure cloud services, including Azure Integration Services, Functions, Service Bus, Logic Apps and related cloud-native technologies.
• Experience implementing secure authentication and identity solutions using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, MSAL, Azure AD B2C and/or Microsoft Entra External ID.
• Solid understanding of mobile application architecture, native platform capabilities (iOS and Android), mobile security, application performance and App Store/Google Play deployment processes.
• Deep knowledge of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps, observability, monitoring and operational excellence.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical decision-making, architecture governance and solution design across complex digital transformation initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to business leaders, product teams, architects, engineers and external delivery partners.
• Proven ability to mentor, coach and develop engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced Agile delivery environments and managing competing priorities, technical risks and delivery dependencies.
• Experience within financial services, lending, banking or other highly regulated industries will be highly regarded.
