Payroll & Finance officer

Job Description

Mergent Group is seeking an experienced Payroll & Finance Officer to join our growing team on a part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled payroll and finance professional to take on a diverse role within a fast-paced business.

The position is office-based, three days per week, Monday to Wednesday

Responsibilities:

• Assist with statutory obligations, including PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, WorkCover and Long Service Leave
• Manage and respond to payroll queries with professionalism
• Support end-to-end payroll processing in accordance with relevant Awards, EBAs and legislation
• Contribute to month-end and year-end financial reporting
• Enter, maintain and reconcile information across corporate systems
• Conduct financial data checks, investigate discrepancies and assist with resolving issues
• Identify and contribute to process improvements across payroll and finance functions
• Review, verify and process employee timesheets

What You’ll Need:

• 3–4+ years’ experience in a similar payroll or finance role
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, compliance and reporting requirements
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and report on financial data
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across the business
