About the role
The Operations Manager is responsible for the leadership, performance and continuous improvement of Advent’s service delivery operations across all sites and contracts nationally. The role holds end-to end accountability for operational excellence, client satisfaction, financial performance, compliance and the development of a high-performing operations team.
Working closely with the executive leadership team, the Operations Manager translates business strategy into consistent, scalable operational practice; safeguards contractual and statutory compliance; and ensures every client receives safe, efficient and value-driven facilities management services that exceed expectations.
Key responsibilities
Lead national day-to-day hard and soft FM operations across all sites and contracts.
Ensure consistent service delivery through standardised procedures, service standards and best practice.
Lead, mentor and develop a geographically dispersed operations team.
Set clear performance expectations and manage performance, capability and succession planning.
Drive effective workforce planning, recruitment and resourcing in partnership with People & Culture.
Foster a safe, inclusive, accountable and high-performance workplace culture.
Ensure all contractual obligations, SLAs and KPIs are achieved or exceeded.
Drive operational efficiency, productivity and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
Resolve escalated operational and service-delivery issues promptly and effectively.
Manage national operations P&L, budgets, forecasts and cost controls.
Optimise labour, subcontractor spend and resource allocation to achieve margin targets.
Identify and deliver contract growth, scope expansion and revenue opportunities.
Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key clients.
Conduct regular client reviews and report on performance, KPIs and service commitments.
Lead contract retention, renewals and new contract mobilisation activities.
Champion a client-focused and solutions-driven culture across operations.
Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, safety systems, ISO-aligned standards and certification requirements.
Promote a proactive safety and zero-harm culture while managing operational, contractual and reputational risks.
Leverage technology, CMMS/work-order systems and data analytics to improve service delivery and decision-making.
Execute operational strategy, implement scalable systems for national growth, and report performance, trends and improvement initiatives to the executive team.
Essential
• Demonstrated senior operational leadership experience within facilities management, property services, or a closely related multi-site service industry.
• Proven track record of managing geographically dispersed operations and teams across multiple sites or states.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience owning a P&L, budgets and margin performance.
• Experience managing client relationships, contracts, SLAs and KPIs in a B2B service environment.
• Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management in a facilities/operational context.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proficiency with FM/CMMS work-order systems, reporting and data analytics.
• Current driver’s license and willingness to travel nationally (and to NZ as required).
Desirable
• Tertiary qualification in Facilities Management, Property, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
• Experience delivering both hard and soft FM services across public and private sector clients.
• Familiarity with asset management aligned to ISO 55001 and relevant quality/environmental standards.
• Experience in contract mobilisation, tendering and business development.
• Experience operating across both Australian and New Zealand markets.
