Commis Chef - Part Time - Tesoro [Movenpick Hotel Hobart]

Tesoro, the signature restaurant at Mövenpick Hotel Hobart, is looking for a passionate and motivated Part-Time Commis Chef to join our culinary team.

Located in the heart of Hobart, Tesoro celebrates Italian-inspired dining using the best of Tasmanian produce. Our menu is built around fresh, seasonal ingredients, simple yet refined flavours, and strong connections with local growers, makers and suppliers.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic chef looking to develop their skills in a supportive hotel environment. Working alongside our experienced culinary team, you will assist with food preparation and service while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, cleanliness and food safety.

• Prepare and cook food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, functions and buffet service
• Prepare and maintain mise en place to support efficient service
• Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with kitchen recipes, quality and presentation standards
• Maintain clean, tidy and hygienic work areas, equipment and storage spaces
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
• Assist with stock rotation and storage while helping to minimise food waste
• Monitor daily food and product requirements and communicate these to the chef on duty
• Work collaboratively with the culinary and Food & Beverage teams to deliver friendly, professional service
• Participate in team briefings, training and development opportunities

• Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel or commercial kitchen environment
• Relevant culinary qualifications
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe work practices
• A passion for quality food and an interest in Italian-inspired cuisine
• Strong attention to detail and high presentation standards
• Good communication, organisation and time-management skills
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
• Current working rights in Australia
