Senior Associate/Special Counsel - Employment Law - Gold Coast

About the role

Aitken Legal is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join our thriving Employment Law firm. This is a full-time or part-time role based in our Gold Coast office in Robina - however, we will consider this role for the Sunshine Coast for the right candidate.  

What you will be doing

• Providing expert legal advice and strategic guidance to employers on the full spectrum of employment law matters, including employee entitlements; performance management; termination and dismissal; managing injured employees; discrimination, harassment and bullying; restructures and redundancies; workplace health and safety and more

• Representing employers in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Federal Court of Australia and other Federal and State tribunals and courts on employment-related disputes and litigation

• Drafting and negotiating employment contracts, enterprise agreements, workplace policies and other employment-related documentation

• Undertaking workplace investigations and drafting reports

• Working with a supportive and collaborative team

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of post-admission experience in employment law in Australia advising employers, ideally gained within a law firm 

• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian workplace relations and employment related legislation and awards 

• Proven track record of successfully advising and representing employers in employment-related disputes and litigation

• Confidence and ability to provide sound advice to employers in telephone conferences and in-person meetings 

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in plain English to non-legal audiences

• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

• A genuine passion for employment law and for being a true specialist in this area of law
