About the role
Social Education Victoria (SEV) is seeking an experienced Publications Coordinator to coordinate the publication and ongoing development of our textbooks and assorted online teaching resources for VCE Politics and VCE Sociology.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, supportive not-for-profit organisation producing educational resources used in schools across Victoria. As Publications Coordinator, you will take the lead on our publishing program, working collaboratively with authors, editors, designers and printers to deliver high-quality resources that support teachers and students.
Working in a small team, you'll enjoy a varied and flexible role supporting teachers as they help students understand an increasingly complex social and political world. Our resources evolve alongside current events, curriculum and classroom practice.
The central focus of the role will be coordinating the publication of the minor second editions of our VCE Politics Units 1 and 2 and VCE Sociology Units 1 and 2 textbooks for release in late 2027, while continuing to expand and maintain SEV's growing collection of online teaching resources.
This is a 12-month contract, with the possibility of an ongoing role.
Social Education Victoria is a member-based not-for-profit organisation supporting the teaching of VCE Politics, VCE Sociology and Civics and Citizenship across Victoria.
Working closely with experienced teachers and assessors, we produce widely used textbooks, online teaching resources, trial examinations and professional learning to support high-quality teaching and learning. Our publications combine contemporary case studies, practical classroom activities and clear explanations of curriculum content, with a strong emphasis on making complex political and sociological concepts accessible to senior secondary students. More than 4,500 copies of our four textbooks are sold to Victorian schools each year.
Working with the support of the Executive Officer, Projects Officer and Finance Officer, you will oversee SEV's VCE resource publishing program from commissioning through to publication.
This role reports to the Executive Officer (EO). The EO and SEV staff are supported and guided by the Committee of Management, itself made up of experienced teachers and educators from across Victoria.
Along with a love for the humanities or the social sciences, you will ideally bring experience in some or most of the following:
Experience working with curriculum, teachers or educational publishing would be highly regarded but is not essential.
SEV is a small but mighty team of four, dedicated to supporting teachers, students and good humanities education.
Working at SEV means enjoying a high amount of collegial support, and a truly flexible and wellbeing-focused work culture. We work remotely but often choose to come together to collaborate and connect at Our Community House, a co-working space in North Melbourne.
This role is for you if you thrive working in a small and highly dedicated team and are passionate about education and supporting teachers.
We offer:
