Join a high-performing team supporting community outcomes and local priorities.
Position Summary
Are you organised, customer-focused and looking for a flexible part-time role that makes a real difference in the community?
We are seeking a proactive and adaptable Divisional Officer to support Deputy Mayor Cr Mark Hammel. Working as part of a high-performing team, you will provide day-to-day administrative, operational and community-focused support that helps deliver local priorities and responsive service to residents.
This role works alongside an experienced divisional team, providing generalist support across a broad range of divisional activities and helping to ensure responsive, high-quality service to the community. The position is offered on a part-time basis of up to 20 hours per week, ideally worked across four or five days. Flexible start and finish times are available to support candidates balancing family, study or other commitments, while meeting the needs of the role.
This position is based at City of Gold Coast Civic Chambers, providing the opportunity to work closely with the wider Councillor Services team while supporting the Division 1 Office.

Home to vibrant local communities, sporting clubs, community organisations and businesses, Division 1 offers a varied and engaging local government environment where no two days are the same.
About Deputy Mayor Cr Mark Hammel
Cr Mark Hammel was elected to the City of Gold Coast in 2020 and has lived in Division 1 his entire life. As Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Division 1, he is committed to delivering practical outcomes that support growing communities and enhance local amenity. His priorities include road upgrades, improved parks and sporting facilities, expanded pedestrian and cycling networks, and improved public transport connections.
Cr Hammel currently serves as Chairperson of the Planning and Environment Committee and is a member of several Council committees, bringing significant local government leadership experience and a strong focus on delivering outcomes for residents.
