About the role
EIA is seeking a PhD-qualified Lecturer in Information Technology to contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of both the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) and Master of Information Technology (MIT). Candidates should have teaching expertise in either Information Systems or Artificial Intelligence, aligned with their academic background and disciplinary specialisation. A core requirement of this position is participation in EIA's offshore delivery in China. The successful candidate is expected to undertake one 18-week academic semester in China each year at an EIA partner institution, with the remainder of the teaching allocation primarily based in Melbourne.
Key responsibilities
Deliver lectures, tutorials and other learning activities across EIA's Bachelor and Master of Information Technology programs, primarily in either Information Systems or Artificial Intelligence-related units, aligned with the lecturer's area of expertise.
Undertake one 18-week academic semester of teaching in China each year at an EIA partner institution, delivering EIA curriculum in accordance with EIA academic and quality assurance requirements.
Contribute to the design, review and continuous improvement of units, learning materials, workshops and teaching resources, ensuring alignment with course learning outcomes and academic standards.
Develop and administer assessment, marking, moderation and feedback, and provide appropriate academic support to students throughout the teaching period.
Work with EIA academic colleagues and partner-institution teams in Australia and China, and participate in moderation, course review and academic quality processes to support consistent curriculum delivery and student outcomes.
About you
A completed PhD in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated teaching experience in a higher education setting is essential, with the capability to teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate units in either Information Systems or Artificial Intelligence.
Strong academic knowledge and disciplinary expertise in either Information Systems or Artificial Intelligence, with the ability to contribute to relevant undergraduate and postgraduate IT units according to program needs.
Experience in developing learning materials, assessment tasks and student feedback, with a good understanding of higher education academic standards and quality expectations.
Willingness and ability to undertake one 18-week academic semester of offshore teaching in China each year, subject to the partner academic calendar, EIA teaching allocation and applicable approvals.
Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with culturally diverse students and academic teams in Australia and China.
Desirable: Relevant industry, applied research or professional experience in Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related IT field.
Desirable: Experience with course or unit coordination, moderation, curriculum mapping, or academic quality processes.

Working Arrangement & Offshore Support
Primary work location: EIA, Melbourne CBD, with one 18-week academic semester per year based at a partner institution in China*.
Offshore Travel & Allowances: For the China teaching semester, EIA provides a practical travel support package, including return airfare, arranged accommodation, Academic exchange visa cost, local transport reimbursement and an applicable daily allowance, in accordance with EIA policy.
Remuneration and workload allocation will be determined according to the appointment type, qualifications, experience and EIA academic workload arrangements.
* Delivery of EIA credit-bearing units/courses is subject to all required regulatory, institutional and partner approvals being obtained and maintained.
