The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales (RSPCA NSW) is a not-for-profit animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. RSPCA NSW is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with approximately 500 staff across NSW to care for animals.

Join our team as a Behaviour Trainer at RSPCA NSW!
Assess and train canines for potential rehoming with RSPCA NSW.
We are seeking a dedicated individual to assess and improve canine and feline behaviour. This vital role will focus on evaluating animal temperament, developing and implementing enrichment programs, and modifying behaviour for rehoming potential.
Responsibilities Include
Observe and document canine and feline behaviour in various environmentsIdentify and address behavioural needs for rehomingAssist with intake and management plans for animal welfareImplement training and rehabilitation programsSupport shelter staff with animal managementContribute to rescue requests and positive outcomesUndertake general administrative duties and attend training sessions
Position Requirements
Certificate II in Companion Animal Studies is desirableEnrolment or willingness to undertake Certificate IV in Behaviour TrainingCurrent Class C driver's licenceMinimum three months of experience in a similar environmentExperience and ability to observe and interpret canine and feline body language including facial expressions vocalisations, and their relationship to emotional statesProficiency in fear-free and reward-based training techniquesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsNational Police Check and Medical Declaration required
