STORE MANAGER – ADELAIDE ARCADE

Ditters is a small, owner-operated South Australian family business with a long history and a strong reputation for quality, personal service and care. From our Adelaide Arcade store, we offer a carefully selected range of nuts, dried fruit, glazed fruit, gifts and the famous Ditters Gourmet Cake.

We are now looking for a Store Manager to join us at an exciting stage in our growth. This will be our first permanent full-time appointment and an important role within the future of the business.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for the kind of person we could trust to look after our Adelaide Arcade store as though it were their own.

Most of the time, you will run the store independently, becoming a familiar and welcoming presence for our customers and taking responsibility for its day-to-day operation. During peak trading periods, particularly November and December, you will also roster, train and support a small number of casual team members.

This is not a role managing a large retail team. It is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys serving customers, takes pride in maintaining a beautiful and well-run store, notices the small details and is comfortable accepting genuine responsibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide warm, thoughtful and personalised service to every customer

• Build lasting customer relationships and encourage repeat business

• Develop a thorough knowledge of the Ditters product range, ingredients, gifting options, seasonal products and brand story

• Help customers choose suitable products and gifts with confidence and care

• Take responsibility for the presentation, cleanliness and smooth operation of the store

• Maintain high standards of visual merchandising, product rotation and food safety

• Manage stock levels, deliveries, inventory records and the minimisation of wastage

• Complete cash handling, banking, opening, closing and general administrative duties accurately

• Monitor sales results and identify practical opportunities to improve the store and customer experience

• Build positive relationships with neighbouring businesses, regular customers and the Adelaide Arcade community

• Prepare casual staff rosters when additional coverage is required

• Recruit, train, communicate with and support casual team members during peak periods and staff absences

• Work closely with the business owners and contribute ideas for the continued improvement and growth of the store

ABOUT YOU

You may already be an experienced Store Manager, or you may be ready to take the next step into a more autonomous role. We are looking for the right person rather than a finished product.

You will ideally bring:

• Approximately 2–5 years’ experience in a retail, hospitality or customer-facing management or leadership role

• Strong customer service experience in an environment where personalised service and relationship-building are valued

• A mature, dependable and professional approach to work

• Excellent attention to detail and a careful, thorough working style

• The confidence to work independently and take responsibility for a store

• Sound judgement and the ability to calmly prioritise competing demands

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Experience training, supporting or leading others in the workplace

• High standards of personal presentation, hygiene and food handling

• An openness to feedback, coaching and new ways of working

• Integrity, humility and a willingness to take ownership of mistakes and learn from them

Experience in premium retail, specialty food, gifting, hospitality or another customer-focused service environment will be highly regarded.
