THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITES:

Concrete Surface Preparation:

Prepare concrete floors or other surfaces for subsequent processes, such as polishing or sealing, by grinding away imperfections, levelling areas, and removing contaminants.

Grinding Operations:

Operate specialized grinding machines (walk-behind, hand-held, etc.) to achieve desired smoothness, flatness, and texture on concrete surfaces.

Equipment Maintenance:

Maintain and clean concrete grinding equipment, ensuring it is in safe and effective working order.

Material Handling:

Handle and manage materials used in concrete grinding, such as grinding stones, polishing pads, and chemical treatments.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations when operating grinding equipment and working with chemicals.

Quality Control:

Ensure the quality of concrete finishes by identifying and addressing any issues or inconsistencies during the grinding process.

Leadership & Guidance:

Provide clear direction, motivate team members, and foster a positive, inclusive work environment.

Record Keeping:

Accurately document job details, equipment usage, and material consumption. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

AQF Certificate IV, or AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training; or at least three years of relevant full-time experience in lieu of formal qualifications.

Physical Strength:

Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy equipment and materials. 

Attention to Detail:

Ability to focus on precision and accuracy when working with concrete grinding equipment. 

Safety Awareness:

Thorough understanding of safety procedures and protocols related to construction and equipment operation. 

Teamwork:

Ability to work effectively with other construction professionals and follow instructions.
