People with disability are seriously over-represented in Australia's justice system — making up around 29% of the prison population, despite being only about 18% of the wider community (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2018).

Behind that number are real, complex people who've often been let down by systems long before they ever ended up here. That's exactly why this role matters — and why we need the right people doing it.

About the role

We're recruiting support workers for Corella Place, a supported residential facility in Ararat, Victoria. Corella Place isn't a prison — it's part of Victoria's Post Sentence Scheme, supporting a specific cohort of residents living under Supervision Orders in the community, with strict conditions, treatment requirements and high levels of oversight from Corrections and the Post Sentence Authority. Most shifts are based on-site at Corella Place, though some may involve community-based support with participants who've been approved for community access under the conditions of their Supervision Order.

Because of the nature of this cohort, we need workers who can genuinely hold this — people who bring warmth, respect and person-centred support, while keeping clear professional boundaries at all times, whether on-site or out in the community.

What we need from you

• Minimum 2 years' experience in disability, or a relevant qualification (or currently studying)

• Genuine willingness and comfort supporting clients within a post-sentence supervision setting

• Full driver's licence and comprehensive car insurance (only relevant for community shifts)

• NDIS Worker Screening Check

• Up-to-date COVID vaccination

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries and follow site safety and supervision protocols at all times
