Team Leader Aquatics

Are you an experienced aquatic professional who enjoys leading teams, maintaining high safety standards and delivering excellent customer service?

Hepburn Shire Council is seeking a Team Leader Aquatics to support the day-to-day operations of our seasonal outdoor pools. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll oversee aquatic staff, ensure facilities operate safely and efficiently, and help create positive experiences for residents and visitors throughout the summer season.

Position Details

• Seasonal Fixed Term, Part Time (0.53 FTE)
• Band 5: $36.67 - $42.27 per hour, plus superannuation
• Anticipated roster pattern: Sunday to Wednesday
• Location: Pools across Hepburn Shire
• Reports to the Aquatics Officer

How you'll make a difference

You'll support our community by:

• Leading and supporting rostered aquatic team members.
• Overseeing the day-to-day operation of Council's aquatic facilities.
• Conducting water testing, risk assessments and operational inspections.
• Coordinating maintenance activities and liaising with contractors as required.
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards, legislation and Council procedures.
• Supporting emergency response readiness and safe operating practices.
• Maintaining clean, safe and welcoming aquatic facilities.
• Delivering exceptional customer service to patrons and user groups.

About you
You'll bring experience working in an aquatic facility, leisure centre or similar recreation environment, along with the ability to lead and support staff in a safety-focused setting.

You'll also have:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
• Sound administration and organisational skills.
• The ability to assess situations and respond appropriately.
• A positive and flexible approach to working independently and as part of a team.
• A commitment to Council's values of Accountability, Respect, Excellence, Trust and Fun.

Essential requirements

• Current Pool Lifeguard qualification/accreditation
• Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate
• Pool Operators Certificate (or equivalent)
• Current Australian Driver Licence
• Current Employee Working with Children Check
• National Criminal History Check
