Regional Security Manager - Victoria/Tasmania

The Role

The Directorate of Security Assurance (DoSA) operates across Australia with the aim to build confidence in the effectiveness of Defence’s security controls and processes. DoSA acts as the primary authority to certify and accredit physical security zones in the Defence Enterprise. We ensure effective implementation and maintenance of security controls through a range of activities, fortifying Defence’s physical security posture.

The Regional Security Manager Victoria & Tasmania (RSM VICTAS) will:

• Lead a small, multi-disciplinary team to deliver physical security certification and accreditation activities in accordance with Defence and whole of government policy
• Act as the central liaison for high level security and stakeholder engagement across Victoria and Tasmania
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with Defence groups, base leadership and external partners to support security outcomes
• Provide authoritative advice on physical security risks, mitigations and compliance issues across the region
• Oversee and coordinate security assessments, inspections and audits, ensuring timely reporting and follow up actions
• Contribute to the development, review and implementation of security related policies, procedures and guidance
• Support the Director DoSA in project management activities and the delivery of operational uplifts and changes, including managing competing priorities and tight timeframes
• Monitor emerging security issues and provide briefings and recommendations to senior stakeholders as required

About our Team

The Directorate of Security Assurance (DoSA) ensures that Defence continues to protect its information, assets and people from security threats. DoSA also operates on behalf of Defence’s Chief Security Officer, while acting in compliance with Australian Government security standards. DoSA provides services and advice to enable multiple facets of security, including primarily the physical security certification and accreditation of Defence and Defence Industry facilities.

• Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility across Government and Defence industry.
• Proven critical thinking skills, with the capacity to identify issues, drive continuous improvement and support governance uplift.
• Well developed organisational and time management skills, including the ability to plan work, manage competing priorities and re prioritise at short notice.
• The ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment, balancing business as usual responsibilities with urgent and ad hoc tasking.

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 2”.
