Principal - Project Contract Support

Project Engagement and Delivery Strategy

• Develop and maintain fit-for-purpose engagement strategies for construction, technical services, consulting, specialist services and other project delivery requirements.
• Advise project teams on delivery models, packaging strategies, contractor engagement approaches and sequencing of project support activities.
• Ensure project engagement strategies are aligned to scope, schedule, risk allocation, governance requirements and delivery objectives.
• Identify opportunities to improve project outcomes through improved contractor engagement, packaging, interface management and market engagement planning.

Project Support Systems and Governance

• Develop, implement and maintain project support systems, procedures, registers, workflows and controls required for effective project delivery.
• Ensure obligations, approvals, correspondence, records, variations, claims, performance data and key decisions are captured and maintained in accordance with organisational requirements.
• Drive standardisation and continuous improvement of project support practices across the project lifecycle.
• Monitor compliance with approved project governance, delegations, documentation standards and approval pathways.

Tender, Award and Negotiation Support

• Support project teams in the preparation, evaluation, clarification and recommendation processes associated with project sourcing and award activities, without assuming ownership of the corporate procurement function.
• Coordinate and support negotiations with external delivery partners, service providers and specialist advisors where required.
• Provide senior-level input into scopes of work, evaluation criteria, negotiation positions, risk allocation and award recommendations.
• Ensure negotiation outcomes are appropriately documented, escalated and aligned with project governance requirements.

Contractor Administration, Claims and Variations

• Coordinate the assessment, review and resolution of claims, variations, disputed items and other contractor administration matters.
• Support project teams in evaluating entitlement, substantiation, cost and schedule impact, risk exposure and approval requirements.
• Maintain accurate claims, variations, issues and correspondence registers and ensure matters are escalated in a timely and structured manner.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, finance, legal, technical leads and external parties to support fair, timely and commercially robust outcomes.

Contract Health and Performance Monitoring

• Establish and maintain processes for monitoring contractor performance, obligation compliance, service delivery outcomes and emerging risks.
• Conduct periodic contract health reviews and identify potential delivery, claims, cost, schedule, interface or relationship risks.
• Develop and report key indicators covering contractor performance, claims status, variations, deliverable performance, outstanding obligations and improvement actions.
• Coordinate corrective actions and lessons learned arising from contractor performance reviews and project governance processes.

Stakeholder and Interface Management

• Act as a senior interface between project teams, internal support functions and external delivery partners.
• Facilitate effective communication, issue resolution and decision support across project stakeholders.
• Build constructive working relationships that support accountability, transparency and project delivery discipline.
• Provide coaching and practical guidance to project personnel on project support requirements, records, obligations and governance expectations.

Risk, Assurance and Continuous Improvement

• Identify and escalate risks associated with contractor performance, claims, project support systems and delivery governance.
• Participate in project reviews, assurance activities, audits and governance forums as required.
• Contribute to lessons learned, process improvement and capability uplift initiatives across the project environment.
• Promote disciplined project support practices that improve delivery certainty, governance, value protection and decision quality.

• (Essential) Significant experience in project delivery, project services, contractor administration, construction support, claims coordination or related project governance roles.
• (Essential) Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain project support systems, registers, workflows and governance controls.
• (Essential) Strong understanding of project delivery lifecycles, scope management, approvals, variations, claims, negotiation support and contractor performance monitoring.
• (Essential) Excellent stakeholder engagement, written communication, negotiation support and problem-solving skills.
• (Desirable) Tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, construction management, quantity surveying, business, law or a related discipline.
• (Desirable) Experience in major projects, capital programs, infrastructure, resources, energy, industrial, engineering or construction environments.
• (Desirable) Professional accreditation or training in project management, contract administration, claims management, risk management or governance.
• (Desirable) Experience supporting complex multi-party delivery environments with multiple work packages and external service providers.
