Operations Manager

About the role

This role oversees the operations and maintenance of the Condong Cogeneration Power Station to meet the Business Plan in a cost-effective manner, ensuring plant and personnel safety and to the required levels of equipment reliability and utilisation. This is achieved through directing and leading multi-disciplinary site teams to deliver the operations, maintenance, engineering and all other site services. This position is accountable for ensuring the availability of steam and electricity supply as per the annual Business Plan, optimising asset performance and maximising asset life whilst ensuring that the power station operations comply with all regulatory, safety and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Condong Site Teams by providing direction and leadership to ensure everyone aligns to the CBM Business Plan and always ensure safety operations and actions by everyone

• Set direction for operations, maintenance and engineering to achieve objectives by continually evaluating progress and status

• Report on weekly and monthly Business Plan performance

• Ensure safe behaviours and procedures are applied and maintained across the site, by ensuring an effective daily operation, maintenance pre-start meeting

• Ensure and oversee safe work controls, procedures and permits to maintain a safe workplace

• Ensure that all operational and maintenance procedures are reviewed as per required intervals and signed off by the appointed person within the law

• Develop and continually update overall plant operations, maintenance, environmental and safety procedures to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures

• Investigate operational constraints and plant trips to initiate rectification actions in a timely manner to maximise generation and reduce restarts

• Prepare, monitor and control the Condong site budgets and ensuring costs remain within approved budget and delegation's manual

• Ensure teams maintain competencies and skills through 100% adherence to the training matrix/plans and maintaining effective succession planning

About you

• Engineering Degree or equivalent (essential)

• Extensive experience in a power station in senior engineering, and/or maintenance and/or operations roles with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role (essential)

• Excellent understanding and application of business/financial/commercial principles including risk management practices and processes, including a working knowledge of understanding and creating business plans (essential)

• Previous operations and/or maintenance supervisory experience (essential)

• Sound leadership and management skills and business acumen with proven ability to make sounds judgments, take timely corrective action, and influence others to work effectively in a climate of change, to meet the organisational strategic business plan objectives (essential)

• Commitment to Safety and able to demonstrate leadership in safe working processes and encouraging safe working by others (essential)

• CMMS experience and good computer skills (essential)

• Proven on time delivery focus (essential)

• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills (essential)

• Good writing skills required (essential)
