Specialist Medical Receptionist

This is a specialist medical reception role within Queensland Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (QOMS), a highly regarded surgical practice.

The role combines high quality patient service with complex appointment management, surgical bookings, billing and medical administration.

As one of the first points of contact for patients, you will play an important role in their experience with QOMS. You will also help coordinate the many moving parts behind a busy specialist surgical practice.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing patient enquiries, appointments and communications
• Booking consultations, surgical procedures and follow-up appointments
• Coordinating surgical bookings with hospitals and anaesthetists
• Liaising with referring dentists, GPs, hospitals and other specialists
• Preparing theatre lists and associated patient documentation
• Providing patients with pre-operative and post-operative information
• Processing accounts, invoicing, receipting and payments
• Managing Medicare and private health fund claims
• Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice

About You

You are an experienced medical, dental or specialist receptionist who genuinely enjoys working with patients.

You communicate clearly and professionally, particularly when patients may be anxious or dealing with unfamiliar procedures. You are organised, accurate and comfortable managing competing priorities within a busy clinical environment.

You will need

• Previous medical, hospital or specialist reception experience
• Strong patient service, confidentiality and interpersonal skills
• Basic to advanced knowledge of HICAPS, EFTPOS, Medicare, DVA, Australian Defence Force, Health Fund claiming and strong computer literacy
• Experience using practice management software such as Genie / Gen2
• The ability to remain calm, positive and organised juggling multiple responsibilities
• The ability to be primarily located at the Auchenflower rooms with a car and licence to travel to the Chermside practice on an occasional basis
• Australian residency and full time work availability Monda
