As part of the College's landmark Centenary redevelopment, Wesley has created a state-of-the-art Sports and Community Precinct that supports student learning, physical wellbeing, high-performance sport, aquatic programs and community engagement. 

This newly created role presents a unique opportunity to oversee the strategic direction, operational management and future growth of the precinct. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources, the Sports Precinct Manager will lead a diverse portfolio encompassing sporting and aquatic facilities, health and wellbeing services, facility operations, financial management, stakeholder engagement and risk management. Based on the College's picturesque South Perth campus, this role will play a critical part in ensuring the precinct remains a vibrant, safe and highly utilised destination for students, staff and the broader community. 

The Sports Precinct Manager will lead a team responsible for delivering exceptional facility operations while creating opportunities to maximise participation, strengthen partnerships and enhance the College's reputation as a leader in sport, wellbeing and community engagement. 

Key Responsibilities  

As Sports Precinct Manager, you will: 

• Lead the day-to-day operation of Wesley College's Sports Precinct, including sporting, aquatic, fitness and playing field facilities. 

• Ensure facilities are safe, well-maintained, welcoming and fit for purpose. 

• Oversee facility scheduling, utilisation, maintenance planning and operational performance. 

• Lead and support a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and service excellence. 

• Manage budgets and financial performance, ensuring sustainable and efficient operations. 

• Identify opportunities to enhance facility utilisation, programs, services and community engagement. 

• Develop and maintain policies, procedures and operational standards to support effective facility management. 

• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, child safeguarding and other regulatory requirements. 

• Coordinate operational planning for major sporting events, competitions and community activities across the precinct. 
• Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, sporting organisations, facility users, community groups and external partners. 

About You 

We are seeking an experienced and capable leader with a proven track record in the management of sporting, recreation, aquatic, or community facilities. You will bring significant experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing external contractors and service providers to deliver high-quality operations and services. 

You will have a strong understanding of risk management, workplace health and safety, and regulatory compliance, supported by demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, and resource planning. 

A strategic and organised professional, you can balance day-to-day operational demands with long-term planning and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also possess exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-management skills, enabling you to build positive partnerships with staff, contractors, community groups, and other key stakeholders. 

Desirable Qualifications and Experience 

The following qualifications and experience are highly regarded: 

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Sport Management, Business, Recreation Management, Facility Management, or a related field. 

• Experience working within an independent school, educational institution, local government, or community sport environment. 

• Current SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator qualification (or an equivalent recognised Pool Operator qualification). 

• Knowledge of aquatic operations and associated regulatory requirements. 
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
