About the role
Steeline Hunter is a locally owned and operated roof manufacturing company based in Thornton, NSW for over 19 years. We specialize in providing high-quality roofing materials and solutions to our valued customers. With a strong commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction, we pride ourselves on being a trusted name in the industry.
Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, the Internal Customer Service Role is one of the most vital roles in our business, primarily responsibility will be to ensure that orders are correctly entered.
Our goal is to deliver the highest quality of customer service and build upon our customer base at a rate set by management. Our experienced and motivated employees are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of customer service in the industry. Their commitment assures our ongoing success. Hard work, collaboration, the desire to learn, flexibility to put in the time and a willingness to go above and beyond will play a vital part in the success of your role.
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Customer Order Entry & Administration Officer to join our team.
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that customer orders are entered into our systems accurately, completely and correctly the first time. You will play an important role in checking orders before they move into manufacturing, helping prevent errors, rework, delays and customer issues.
This role would suit someone who takes pride in getting the details right, enjoys working systematically and is confident asking questions when something doesn't look right.
Accurately enter customer orders into our order-entry and manufacturing systems.
Carefully check customer orders for accuracy, completeness and consistency.
Verify measurements, quantities, product specifications, colours, finishes and other order details.
Identify discrepancies, missing information or unusual requirements before an order progresses.
Investigate and resolve order discrepancies with customers, sales staff and internal departments.
Question information when it doesn't appear correct rather than simply processing the order.
Ensure orders meet required manufacturing and delivery requirements.
Liaise with Customer Service, Sales, Manufacturing, Dispatch and other team members to clarify requirements.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Follow established procedures and quality-control processes.
Assist with general administration associated with customer orders.
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring errors or opportunities to improve the order-entry process.
The successful applicant will be someone who:
Is highly detail-oriented and accurate.
Is methodical, organised and systematic in their approach.
Can perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of concentration.
Is confident using computers and learning new software and order-entry systems.
Has the ability to identify discrepancies and investigate problems.
Is comfortable questioning information when something doesn't look right.
Takes personal responsibility for the accuracy and quality of their work.
Is reliable, consistent and accountable.
Communicates clearly and works well with the wider team.
Takes pride in getting things right the first time.
Can work independently while knowing when to ask for assistance.
Experience in roofing, building products, manufacturing, construction or a similar industry would be advantageous but is not essential.
More important is your ability to understand information, follow processes, recognise inconsistencies and maintain a high level of accuracy.
Success in this role means that orders entering manufacturing are:
Accurate • Complete • Correct • Clearly Communicated • Ready for Production
You will be an important quality-control point between the customer and our manufacturing team, helping ensure that what the customer orders is exactly what we manufacture.
In a manufacturing environment, a small order-entry error can result in incorrect products, wasted materials, production delays, additional freight and an unhappy customer.
Your attention to detail will help prevent these issues before they happen.
If you are the type of person who naturally checks the details, notices when something doesn't add up and takes pride in getting things right, this could be the role for you.
