The Role

We are looking for an empathetic and intuitive Health & Security Assistant with security experience and strong people skills to join our Mental Health team.

This is more than a traditional security role. You will work closely with nursing and clinical staff in a fast-paced acute mental health environment, helping to maintain a safe, supportive and therapeutic setting for patients, staff and visitors.

Guided by the principles of low conflict, high therapy, you will combine your security experience with compassion, communication and good judgement to support positive patient interactions and respond effectively to challenging situations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Responding to critical incidents
• Escorting patients to appointments and other departments
• Supporting daily unit activities
• Conducting environmental safety checks
• Testing duress alarms and checking equipment
• Helping maintain a clean and safe unit environment
• Supporting other Mental Health Inpatient Units when required

Where you'll be working

You will be based at Mental Health Inpatient Units, St George Mental Health Service, located on the St George Hospital campus, Kogarah.

The roster includes 10 hour shifts covering mornings, midday and afternoons, with the inclusion of weekends and public holidays, accompanied with attractive penalty rates.
