The SESLHD Mental Health Service is a specialised clinical service, providing care to a local population of over 930,000 residents in the Sydney metropolitan area. We provide care within both hospital and community settings to support people living with mental illness at times when acute intervention is needed, or to remain well in their community and lead their own recovery.

The Role
Do you have a passion for supporting people and helping create safe, therapeutic environments? South Eastern Sydney Local Health District is seeking a dedicated Health & Security Assistant to join our Mental Health Inpatient Services team.
In this rewarding role, you'll be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, helping to maintain a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Working under the direction of nursing staff, you'll provide a local response to incidents, assist with patient escorts, support daily unit activities, contribute to environmental safety checks, and help ensure the smooth operation of the unit.
This unique position combines patient support and security responsibilities, requiring a calm, professional approach and the ability to build respectful relationships with people experiencing mental health challenges. You'll play an important role in promoting dignity, safety, wellbeing, and positive patient experiences while contributing to a culture of compassion and recovery.
