About the role
Project and Installation Coordinator – Shading Industry
Shade Factor, a leading specialist in premium shading systems, is expanding its team in Sydney. We supply and install custom-made external venetians, awnings, and blinds for high end homes and commercial projects – and we’re seeking a hands-on, technically skilled Project and Installation Coordinator to compliment our existing team.
This dynamic role is suited to someone with experience on construction sites who understands how complex design elements come together. You’ll work on projects across Sydney and spend time in the office in Brookvale. If you have a strong technical understanding of architectural plans, can visualise in 3D, collaborate confidently with builders and installers, and take pride in delivering premium shading products, we want to hear from you.
As a Project and Installation Coordinator, you will manage projects after handover from the sales team up to completion on site, ensuring smooth, high-quality execution. You’ll split your time between site meetings and project coordination in the office, ensuring that each phase of the project is completed to the highest standard.
Responsibilities:
· Project Management: Manage projects from site measurement through to ordering, technical resolution, and installation planning.
· Site Coordination: Visit construction sites, meet with builders, and discuss the implementation of shading products. Capture site conditions and provide detailed information for manufacturing. Provide necessary electrical instructions for shading products.
· Architectural Understanding: Read and interpret architectural plans and details accurately to capture essential information for manufacturing.
· Technical Expertise: Demonstrate a strong technical grasp of plans, sections, and details. Provide support to sales and installation teams with your hands-on knowledge.
· Communication: Effectively communicate with builders, clients, and installation teams via phone, email, and on-site meetings – providing updates and instructions throughout the project.
· Problem Solving: Identify and address challenges, finding practical solutions to maintain smooth project progression.
· Drawing: Create technical drawings and documentation, when necessary, hand-drawn and/or computer-aided designs (AutoCAD or SketchUp).
· Purchase Orders: Manage purchase orders for materials and equipment necessary for installations.
· Job Planning: Develop comprehensive plans for efficient project execution.
· Coordination: Coordinate installation teams, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
· Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of attention to detail in all aspects of project management.
Key Requirements:
· Construction Site Experience: Experience on construction sites in a trade or project management role, with an appreciation of architects design process.
· Technical Expertise: Strong technical understanding of architectural plans, sections, and details.
· Drawing Skills: Proficiency in hand-drawn and/or computer-aided drawings (AutoCAD or SketchUp).
· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, for detailed technical discussions with clients, builders, and team members.
· Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of successful project management.
· Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and a structured thinker.
· Multi-Tasking and Agility: Efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines. Adapt quickly to changing project requirements.
· Autonomous and Collaborative Work: Ability to work independently, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative. Strong collaboration skills, contributing effectively within a team environment.
· Driving License: Possess a manual driver's license.
· Residency: Must be an Australian resident.
Advantageous:
· Previous experience with blinds, awnings or façade systems
· Working at heights
· EWP (Elevating Work Platform) license
· Scaffold ticket
We Offer:
· Full training, including product knowledge in our specific ranges.
· A vehicle.
· Competitive salary based on your experience and skill level.
If you're a hands-on, detail-oriented, and self-driven professional who thrives in an architectural environment, enjoys solving technical challenges, and has a passion for project management and integrating construction products, we encourage you to apply. Join Shade Factor and be part of our team. Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and qualifications. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.
