About the role

We are seeking an experienced Litigation & Commercial Lawyer with a minimum of 3+ years PQE to join our team at CKL Lawyers.

This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on a varied caseload of litigation and dispute resolution matters, together with transactional work in commercial law. As a Litigation & Commercial Lawyer, you will play a key role in providing strategic advice, managing cases through all stages of litigation, representing clients in court proceedings, briefing barristers and drafting a wide variety of commercial agreements.

What you'll be doing

• Conduct detailed legal research and analysis on matters relating to litigation and dispute resolution across various practice areas

• Prepare written advices, pleadings, court documents and correspondence for clients and the court

• Manage litigation files from inception through to resolution, including settlement negotiations and trial preparation with supervised support from senior lawyers

• Appearance work for Directions Hearings

• Develop and implement litigation strategies in consultation with senior lawyers and clients

• Conferences with Clients, gather evidence and prepare case materials for trial

• Liaise with barristers, experts and other stakeholders involved in litigation

• Provide clear, practical and commercially-focused advice to clients on litigation risks and opportunities

• Give advice and draft a wide variety of commercial documents

What we're looking for

• A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in litigation & dispute resolution and Commercial law

• Proven experience in managing litigation matters from commencement through to resolution or trial

• Strong written and oral skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal arguments clearly and persuasively

• Excellent legal research and analytical abilities

• Sound understanding of civil procedure and evidence rules

• Well developed commercial drafting skills

• Demonstrated ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with colleagues

• Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously

• Excellent client service orientation and communication skills

• Practical problem-solving ability with a pragmatic approach to dispute resolution

• Current admission to practice as a lawyer in Victoria
