SERVICE MANAGER – NURIOOTPA

Vater Machinery is a proud, family-owned business with a long-standing reputation for excellence across South Australia. With branches in Saddleworth, Kadina, and Nuriootpa, we support farmers and industry partners with high-quality machinery, parts, and after-sales service.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead our Nuriootpa Service Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional service outcomes.

About the Role

As the Service Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the service department, ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality repairs, timely turn-around, strong financial performance, and superior customer satisfaction.

You will lead a skilled technical team, manage service administration and warranty functions, and contribute to continuous improvement across processes and systems. Your ability to balance technical understanding, leadership, and customer service will be key to success.

Key responsibilities include:

·Leading and supporting a high-performance technical service team

·Managing workshop operations, workflow planning, and labour utilisation

·Maintaining service integrity through quality repairs & efficient turnaround times

·Managing warranty processes, WIP, invoicing and internal repair orders

·Raising purchase orders, sourcing equipment, and preparing quotations

·Driving continuous improvement in systems, service standards, and efficiency

·Building strong relationships with customers and internal departments

·Handling escalated enquiries and ensuring positive customer outcomes

·Ensuring WHS compliance and maintaining a safe, well-equipped workshop

About You

You will be an engaging and organised leader who brings professionalism, initiative, and a strong customer focus. You support your team through coaching, direction, shared learning, and clear communication, and you thrive on improving processes to deliver better results.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

·Effective people management and leadership skills

·Excellent time management, workflow planning, and problem-solving skills

·Ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams

·Good customer service skills and experience in problem resolution

·Strong / clear communicator with a customer-first mindset

·Confidence in using computer systems

·A knowledge or interest in agricultural practices

·A current motor vehicle licence
