Are you an experienced plumbing professional looking for a unique opportunity to work across multiple local government areas while contributing to the future of North West Tasmania’s communities?
Devonport City Council is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Shared Plumbing Surveyor to join our Development Services team. This full-time position is delivered as a shared service across Devonport, Latrobe, Kentish and Central Coast Councils, providing a diverse and rewarding work environment. The successful applicant will be employed by Devonport City Council and work throughout the region to undertake inspections, assessments and regulatory functions on behalf of the participating councils. The employee will be based at Devonport City Council and only travel to other Councils to undertake inspections and cover times of leave for each Council.
About the Role
As the Shared Plumbing Surveyor, you will play a key role in ensuring plumbing and drainage works comply with relevant legislation, regulations and standards. You will work closely with plumbers, builders, designers, permit authorities and members of the community to provide professional advice and quality customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
Inspecting plumbing and drainage installations and undertaking compliance inspections.
Assessing and processing plumbing applications in accordance with the Building Act 2016 and relevant regulations.
Investigating plumbing and drainage complaints.
Issuing notices, approvals and enforcement actions as required.
Providing advice and support to contractors, residents, developers and other stakeholders.
Working collaboratively with four participating councils to deliver consistent and high-quality regulatory services.
Maintaining accreditation and participating in relevant industry forums and professional development activities.
