Daphne is looking for a great Wood-Fire Grill Chef to join our kitchen team in Brunswick East.

This is a brilliant role for a chef who genuinely loves cooking over fire. Our wood-fire grill sits at the heart of the kitchen and is a huge part of the food we do — great produce, beautiful cuts of meat, vegetables over coals and simple cooking where technique really matters.

You’ll have the opportunity to own the grill section, work with quality produce and be part of a busy, ambitious restaurant with a kitchen team that cares deeply about the food going out.

• Owning and running our wood-fire grill section

• Working with great cuts of meat, seafood, vegetables and seasonal produce

• Managing the fire, heat and timing throughout service

• Cooking consistently across busy services

• Working with the senior kitchen team on new dishes and specials

• Taking ownership of prep, organisation and quality on your section

• Being an important part of the wider kitchen team

Ideally, you’ll have experience working with wood fire, charcoal or a busy grill, but more than anything we're looking for someone who is a seriously good cook and wants to keep getting better.

You’ll be confident with meat and different cuts, understand the nuances of cooking over fire and be able to keep your cool when the restaurant is full.

We want someone who takes pride in their section, cares about the details, works cleanly and brings a good attitude to the kitchen.

Daphne is a busy neighbourhood restaurant on Lygon Street in Brunswick East, with a focus on generous hospitality, great produce and food people genuinely want to eat.

We're building a strong kitchen and this is an opportunity to come in and really make the grill section your own.

You'll get to work with fire every day, cook beautiful produce, have input into what we're doing and work alongside a team that wants to keep pushing the restaurant forward.

Full-time position with a competitive salary based on experience.
