IME Officer

We are looking for an Independent Medical Examiner (IME) Officer to join the team on a fixed term contract until January 2027 to support the Health & Recovery Division in the delivery of IME services that enable timely, high quality and consistent clinical advice to support claims and recovery decision making.

• $124,535.00 per annum + 12% superannuation
• Full time, fixed term opportunity until 15/01/2027
• Wadawurrung / Geelong based role (hybrid – 3 days a week in office)

About the opportunity

The IME Officer supports the Health & Recovery Division in the delivery of IME services that enable timely, high quality and consistent clinical advice to support claims and recovery decision making.

The role provides operational support for IME activities, including responding to enquiries, maintaining records and data, and supporting quality and compliance processes. The IME Officer works closely with the IME Coordinator, internal stakeholders, Insurance Agents and medical practitioners to drive the effective operation of the IME function in line with policy, legislation and governance requirements.

Key accountabilities

• Provide day to day operational support for Independent Medical Examination activities, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery.
• Respond to IME related enquiries from Agents, providers and internal stakeholders, escalating issues as appropriate.
• Maintain IME panel records, credential documentation and relevant databases.
• Support compliance activities relating to quality assurance, performance and complaints management.
• Prepare IME related communication, reports and briefing materials.
• Collect, collate and maintain IME activity data to inform monitoring, reporting and identification of trends.
• Implement IME related initiatives, process improvements and system changes as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities  by identifying operational issues or inefficiencies and suggesting improvements.

Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:

• Strong experience in executing quality written reports, briefs, presentations, and strategic communications (oral and written) for internal and external stakeholders.
• Project experience, scheduling complex programs of work, planning, delivery, risk assessment, gap analysis and the application of project methodologies.
• Understanding of the legal, policy and operational environment (health and/or insurance) and proven ability to deliver improvement initiatives and programs of work supported by research, analysis and customer needs.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake effective research and analysis, capture input received from stakeholders to support the development of guidance materials, policy and procedures.
• Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft suite programs.
• A tertiary qualification(s) in health or related field will be highly regarded.
