Chef De Partie

The Duxton is one of Canberra’s most established venues, with a 90-seat à la carte restaurant, full bar, and large function capacity.

We run a quality kitchen with a live fire chargrill and a menu that genuinely reflects the season.

We’re looking for a skilled Sous Chef or CDP to join our leadership team full-time.

This is a genuine second-in-command role — not just a section hand. You’ll work directly alongside the Head Chef to run services, lead the brigade, and own the kitchen when it counts.

What the role looks like

• Running à la carte service across a busy restaurant and bar operation
• Leading and mentoring a team of full-time and casual kitchen staff
• Managing prep, stock control, ordering, and food safety compliance
• Holding the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence — confidently and independently

What we need from you

• Proven experience at Sous Chef or strong CDP level
• Ability to run a full service independently — this is non-negotiable
• Strong à la carte skills and section discipline
• Team-first attitude with genuine leadership capability
• Full working rights in Australia
• Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience

What we offer
