Assistant Accountant – AP/AR

We are currently seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant – AP/AR to join our finance team in Broadmeadows. This role will suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is looking to grow their accounting career.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the efficient management of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions for Davies Bakery. The role also provides payroll support when required and assists with financial reporting and month-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Managing end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.

• Reviewing supplier invoices for appropriate documentation and approvals prior to payment.

• Preparing and processing supplier payments.

• Posting accounting transactions to journals, ledgers, and other financial records.

• Reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

• Investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies and supplier queries.

• Processing customer receipts and collections.

• Performing credit card reconciliations.

• Administering petty cash.

• Preparing accurate and timely reports, including cash flow analysis.

• Assisting with month-end closing and financial reporting.

• Maintaining accurate financial documentation in line with company policy and accounting standards.

• Supporting payroll processing when required.

• Working with the GlobalBake ERP system to ensure accurate transaction processing and reporting.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• 2+ years’ experience in an Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable or Assistant Accountant role.

• A degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.

• Strong Excel and analytical skills.

• Experience working with ERP systems (GlobalBake experience highly regarded).

• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
