The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced HR Officer to join our growing team at People First Healthcare. This hands-on role will support the full employee lifecycle, with a strong focus on supporting our frontline workforce, including Direct Care Workers and Support Workers. You will work closely with managers and employees across the organisation to provide practical HR advice, coordinate recruitment and onboarding, support employee relations, and ensure our people practices remain compliant and aligned with organisational values.

This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a genuine understanding of the unique challenges involved in managing and supporting a large frontline care workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage recruitment activities for frontline roles, including Direct Care Workers, Support Workers and other operational positions 
• Coordinate pre-employment and compliance requirements
• Support managers with employee relations matters, performance concerns and workplace issues 
• Provide timely and practical HR advice to managers and employees in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures 
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HR documentation is up to date
• Coordinate onboarding and induction processes to ensure new employees are well prepared and supported 
• Monitor and manage employee compliance requirements, including working rights, qualifications, police checks and other role-specific documentation 
• Support workforce planning and recruitment strategies to attract and retain quality frontline employees 
• Assist with performance and probation processes, including coordinating documentation and follow-ups 
• Support the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and initiatives 
• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems and employee experience 
• Work collaboratively with operational leaders to understand workforce challenges and provide proactive HR solutions 
• Ensure all HR practices align with relevant employment legislation and organisational requirements

About You

• Previous experience in an HR Officer, HR Administrator or similar role
• Experience supporting a frontline workforce, ideally within aged care, disability, healthcare, community services or a similar industry 
• Strong understanding of the recruitment and onboarding requirements for Direct Care Workers and/or Support Workers 
• Knowledge of employment legislation, employee relations and HR best practices 
• Experience managing employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, probation and performance management 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the organisation 
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities 
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated and changing environment 
• Proactive, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement
