About the role
About Us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
You can find out more about our Ministers, leadership and entities here: Department of Government Services.
Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) is Victoria's consumer regulator. Our vision is a fair and competitive marketplace in Victoria. We:

The outcomes we are working to achieve for the Victorian community are:
· businesses that comply with consumer laws,
· Victorians who exercise their consumer rights,
· a fair and safe rental market for Victorians.
About the Role
The Inspector will conduct a range compliance monitoring activities and inspections as authorised under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act, and other legislation administered by CAV.
Also, the Inspector will carry out residential tenancy investigations including rental assessments and non-urgent repairs as delegated under the Residential Tenancies Act.
Further the Inspector will perform front line dispute resolution, provide business and community education and participate in CAV campaign initiatives.
