About the role

Job Title: Annual Giving Officer

Reports to: SPPO IO Manager – solid line manager

Manager of Annual Giving – functional manager

Location: Norwest (Sydney)

This position is designated as Hybrid – Fixed Days and will regularly work in the office an average of 2 days a week – with a set schedule. Managers may require team members to work on the same schedule to encourage collaboration.

Position Overview

This position supports the Annual Giving team, responsible primarily for cultivating donors and developing fundraising strategies to support the Annual Fund as the cornerstone of The Rotary Foundation’s donor pipeline to its major and gift planning programs. You will identify prospective donors and their goals by providing counsel and resources to regional and club fundraising volunteers. The Annual Giving Officer (AGO) supports overall fundraising progress in an assigned region/territory as it relates to the goals of The Rotary Foundation and, specifically, the goals of the Annual Giving department.

This position is designated as Individual Hybrid with Set Frequency and expected to work from the SPPO two days per week (determined by individual based on business requirements). Because this position has been identified as requiring at least some time in the office, you must live within reasonable commuting distance from Norwest, where the SPPO is located.

In this position, you are expected to work from the office as required by your supervisor/manager/director/GM and may be called upon to do so at any time and for any length of time as business needs may dictate.

You Will Have

Bachelor's degree; Advanced degree preferred
Successful prior development experience strongly preferred, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors or comparable job experience
Experience with public speaking in front of small and large audiences
Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office apps, video conferencing (e.g. Zoom) and fundraising databases (Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge software preferred)
Strong inter-personal skills, professional demeanor, and commitment to customer service
Personal and professional integrity, particularly with regard to responsibly handling donor information
Knowledge of a second language helpful
Fluency in English

You Will Be Responsible For

Developing fundraising strategies and resources

Coordinating and implementing Annual Giving fundraising strategies to increase donor acquisition, adoption of automated/recurring giving, and milestone giving to the Annual Fund and other funding priorities in an assigned geographic territory;
Preparing and disseminating resources and trainings on fundraising best practices to help regional volunteer leadership identify and effectively cultivate major gift prospects;
Collaborating with major and planned giving staff to encourage donors to upgrade giving levels;
Creating and utilising communication tools including: fundraising progress reports, appeal letters, marketing strategies, motivational messages, and individual donor correspondence in the area covered by the SPPO.

Representing The Rotary Foundation to cultivate giving

Traveling to assigned territory approximately 6-7 times per year (including weekends) to represent The Rotary Foundation and promote ongoing financial support with donors, volunteers and senior Rotary leaders at events and in individual meetings;
Maintaining a small portfolio of major donors/prospects primarily with a giving capacity between $5,000-$25,000;
Working in close partnership with major gift officers and planned giving officers to develop major gift pipeline;
Gathering, recording, and properly storing appropriate meeting notes concerning major gift prospects utilizing Raiser’s Edge.
Averages 10 meetings (combined face-to-face and virtual), 45-50 phone calls, and 250 e-mails per quarter with regional volunteers to address annual giving activity and strategies;
Averages 10 stewardship and/or cultivation phone calls per month with major gift prospects;
Averages 25 meetings per year (combined face-to-face and virtual) with major gift prospects through qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship visits;

Other duties as assigned

Other duties as assigned may include working with volunteer leaders on inquiries, supporting meetings and events indirectly related to fund development, leading department meetings, working on special projects, and testing system updates.
