The Role
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and inspirational educational leader to join us as the Head of HSIE, specifically focusing on Business Studies and Legal Studies. In this pivotal faculty leadership position, you will guide a dedicated team of educators, drive high-quality teaching and learning outcomes, and oversee curriculum implementation across Stage 6 Commerce, Business, and Legal Studies courses.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support the HSIE faculty team to foster a collaborative and high-performing professional environment.
Oversee the design, implementation, and review of innovative HSIE programs in alignment with NESA requirements, focusing heavily on Senior Business and Legal Studies.
Model exceptional classroom practice and use data-driven, deep learning pedagogies to improve student outcomes.
Manage faculty resources, coordinate assessments, and ensure compliance with NESA registration and accreditation standards.
Actively contribute to the broader life of the College and champion its Islamic values and community goals.
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support teaching staff to achieve high-quality teaching and learning outcomes.
Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment and effective teaching practices, particularly in Business Studies and Legal Studies.
Demonstrated ability to use student data and evidence-informed practices to improve student outcomes.
Commitment to the Islamic ethos, values and educational philosophy of Minarah College.
Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff and contribute positively to the wider College community.
Skills and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education, with a specialisation in HSIE (Business Studies and/or Legal Studies preferred).
Proven leadership experience within a secondary school environment, or demonstrated readiness to step into a faculty leadership role.
Strong knowledge of the NSW HSIE curriculum, assessment practices and NESA syllabus requirements.
Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff and parents.
Current NESA teaching accreditation (Provisional level or above) and a valid NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Employment Conditions:
Teachers at Minarah College are employed under the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
